This library provides learning resources to children from resource challenged backgrounds in these rural communities in Kenya.
Over 14 primary schools impacted
Over 17 secondary schools impacted
Over 1,000 students since September 2020
When COVID-19 pandemic forced the Kenya government to close all schools and colleges indefinitely in March 2020 affecting all students around the country, children from resource challenged backgrounds in Kenyan villages did not have access to any educational material including curriculum based books. She Shines Memorial Association Australia established a learning centre in a small town in Western Kenya called Sirisia to assist these school children.
This is the only learning centre ever established in this community since time immemorial. We also facilitated a program where one teacher is available each day to provide general guidance to the students while using the learning centre. This learning centre is available to over 10 primary schools and over 5 secondary schools this area. An estimated 700 students have benefited from these resources since the learning centre was established in September 2020.
